Comment:
I remember Audie as a youngster and seeing him on the cover of Life in full uniform after receiving MoH. I never missed any of his movies, even though they were not the caliber of later westerns. But I didn't care, he was a "hero!" I thought he did a humble job protraying himself in "To Hell and Back" a movie of his exploits in ww2. When ever I'm in The District, I always visit Arlington Nat Cem and visit his grave 1st, then take the long walk NW to section 60 and spend several hours before heading out to see more of my capital. I always tell people,"Im going to Arlington Cemetry to visit friends, and they say, oh,how many friends do you have there? I say,all of them!" All who are there, like Audie, "are heros!" I hope all who visit Washington, will go here first. It's more rewarding than seeing congress! Audie was my first hero, when I was about ten years
old (1950). I read everything I could get my hands on, about him; and followed his movie career, until he died.
I was a member of his first fan club. About ten years later, I learned that he was kin to our family, but not sure how, since my family wasn't really into geneaology.
I remember from the fan books back then that he had children; I would love to know what they look like now. Would it be posible to send me a pic ture of some of his family?
Thanks so much,
Beverly Murphy
