I became familiar with Audie Murphy when my father and I attended the Movie, "To Hell and Back." I was 13 Having a natural predilection to all things historical and especially with true documentaries, Audie's story was hot only interesting but made me proud just to be an American too. Over the years, I am now 82, his movies and life story creep back into my life periodically making me to remember him all over again and to learn even more about him each time. I am humbled by his life story. There's a saying that "only the good die young." Audie certainly is an affirmation of that phrase. May you RIP. Added: November 1, 2024

I have just read the book Audie Murphy Undercover (imported from USA) couldn't put it down until I had read it cover to cover. The man himself, enlightening, admirable and exciting, puts the whole picture of Audie Murphy into perspective and wonderfully so. Now this is exactly the Audie Murphy I believe in...makes seeing, reading and knowing about him an inner pleasure, leaving a warm feeling of 'good on you' with an admiration of keeping this side of his life where he chooses it to be...his and nobody else's...not the public domain. His true calling, his true self...so glad this book was written...I may watch his films, but now I see the real man behind them...I treasure this book...sad my dad isn't alive to read it, he'd have nodded in quiet, deep approval...Irish eyes smiling. Loved reading about his incredible life story. A large neighboring housing is named after him so we were curious to learn who he was and looked him up. He was a true ๐บ๐ธ Hero. Thank you for keeping my memory alive. He will be in our thoughts tomorrow on Veteranโs Day.
