Your website is fantastic. I did not realize that Audie Murphy's father and mother were gone by the time he reached 16. He had a built-in excuse for not going to war. He was the provider, but that didn't stop him. What determination he had. How ironic it was that his first captain tried to keep him from the fighting, fearing he was so short. I'm presently trying to find out if a certain person, named Dr. Marvin L. Cox of Belleville and born in St. Louis, was awarded a purple heart. He died in 2009. He showed someone 2 purple hearts, claiming they were awarded to him. The closest I can find on the purple heart list from the 'net is one Marion Cox. I met Audie, when he requested to meet a handicapped child. My son, Rick was chosen, as was Naomi Miller. He and Susan Cabot came to the Cerebral Palsy clinic, and a photo shoot took place. When that was over, Susan and Audie, spent more time with Rick and Naomi, asking about what they thought they might grow up to be. I was also very much in awe of Audie. His interest was sincere in learning about Rick and Naomi's hopes and dreams. When Audie died, Rick and I spent several days getting over it. To think he went to Hell and back, and dies in a plane crash. May he rest in peace. I feel honored to have spent an afternoon with him. Rest in Prace, dear one, as you have earned it. A true Hero of a lasting generation of remarkable people representing our beautiful country. Often times a Hero is misinterpreted as a person who does an act of modern day publicity, politics, or fiction. It is important that America's stories of true hereoism are taught to the new generation's to come. SGT USA, FA Added: August 29, 2011 Powered by PHP Guestbook - brought to you by PHP Scripts
