I remember Audie as a youngster and seeing him on the cover of Life in full uniform after receiving MoH.
I never missed any of his movies, even though they were not the caliber of later westerns. But I didn't care, he was a "hero!"
I thought he did a humble job protraying himself in "To Hell and Back" a movie of his exploits in ww2.
When ever I'm in The District, I always visit Arlington Nat Cem and visit his grave 1st, then take the long walk NW to section 60 and spend several hours before heading out to see more of my capital.
I always tell people,"Im going to Arlington Cemetry to visit friends, and they say, oh,how many friends do you have there? I say,all of them!"
All who are there, like Audie, "are heros!"
I hope all who visit Washington, will go here first. It's more rewarding than seeing congress!
Sincerely,
Ian Aitken ;)

I have always loved Audie Murphy's movies. I was brought up hearing about Audie from my father who was also in WWII. It's such a shame he had to die to so young.

I am also in the Army and came across this site. Mr. Audy Murphey was a real life hero and is still remembered well throughout the Army and always will be. I have spoken to my children about some of the brave acts he performed and how he incorporated the best attributes that made our country and military the best in the world.
