Dear Audie Murphy,
You lived among us long ago
And did the best you could.
You gave us more than you’ll ever know;
Perhaps more than we ever would.
Life was not an easy fare;
Struggle was part of your terrain.
You certainly endured more than your share—
Of poverty, hunger, war and pain.
True, there were times of deep despair,
But you carried on with love and great care.
You carried on through it all,
While helping others in your wake.
Ready to lay down your life if
That was the call –
The call so many don’t dare to take.
It’s not the perfect life that we admire.
The lives that touch our hearts are the
Ones that inspire.
You touched our hearts that is clear.
You showed us courage in face of fear.
You took the risks and paid so dear.
The cost was great, that is true,
But you did your best to see it through.
Perhaps that is why we turn to you --
To find the strength that we require
To face our country’s troubles
that appear so dire.
You have our admiration –
A member of the greatest generation;
Thank you for your inspiration
To help us preserve and protect our mighty but ailing nation.

I am honored to have a chance to learn and read about a man who overcame so much hardship, both in and out of the Army. No one could ever ask for a better role model. May he rest in peace and blessing be with his family and comrades.

My uncle, Lloyd Arthur Cates, was killed in the Vietnam
War. I have always been a huge fan of Audit Murphy and have great respect for all veterans of all wars. Thank you for this opportunity to pay my respects.

It is true that we lack Hero's today. I believe we lack hero's because so many people
lack a proper foundation.
Tabloid journalism is destroying our way of life. Also reality TV is another destroyer
Of society. There was a time when you were ashamed to bring things to light. You worked
On them in private, or with family help. Now people are getting paid to embellish.
There is no sense of purpose or honor.
Thanks for keeping Audie before us to see a real hero. life. :D

I Jack Lerner think that Audie Murphy was one of the greatest man that ever lived. He should have been a General, but the war put him on another path. G-D bless Audie L. Murphy

I recently purchased the film "To Hell And Back" and enjoyed it very much, it's a fitting honor for the most decorated soldier of our time. May his memory never fade. Thanks.

Thank you for all your work honoring this great American and thereby honoring the men and women who have fought to protect our country. I want my children to be able to read about these brave men and women. May we never forget. . .
