I remember how I loved his movies but now learning of his incredible courage and military track record I am amazed and honored to have such a soldier on "our" side. I wonder was he a christian?

Thank you Audie, it's men like you that bless my family with freedom. God bless you

Saw many of his films and always admired him as a star. didn't realise the significance of his War record until I happened on this site. What a HERO, we could do with more men like him in our modern society, a more deserving candidate will not be found today.

Audie Murphy was a favourite of mine when I was a boy as i loved my westerns. I was and am short and he represented an alternative Hero in my size. He died when I was 10 and I remember to this day were I was when my parents told me and how it upset me. As I grew and found out more about him as a man and true Hero I admire him even more for his Heroism but also his humility.
I still watch his films when they repeat them here in the UK and seem to spend a lot of time reminding Americans on facebook when they keep posting the Image of John Wayne as a symbol of the USA, that maybe they should look to Audie as a truer image of your all American Hero.

I'm a retired MSG with 22 years of service with the US Army, on the day Audie Murphy died, I enlisted in the Army 5/28/1971....My son shares Audie Murphy's birthday 6/20/1985...When I finally visited Arlington National Cemetery last September, I was surprised to learn Audie Murphy's resting place was the second most visited grave in Arlington, only President Kennedy's grave is visited more......BTW he was a great actor as well......
