He had a hard life growing up and did his best in WW 2 and came back to continue his life. Its sad he died to early.I read his book and lots of his movies.Wish I could have met him he was a decent soul.Aleast he rests in peace and don't have the demons to fight with like the rest of us.Miss you Audie. Wow, what an amazing man! To be honest apart from being a huge western fan and loving Audie's movies, I was completely unaware of his story. I'm only in my forties but he remains my elderly fathers favourite western actor and also mine. Like many people of his era that served in the War, too little recognition remains for their amazing and unimaginable sacrifice. He will forever have my total respect and every time I watch him in a movie will enjoy all the more after knowing what he did. Hats off to whoever created this site and for honouring a wonderful mans achievements. Thanks and regards Glen (also a mention from my father Roy Howard) Added: February 11, 2016
