Comment:
My dad also was in the Army in WW2, and as youngster I had heard some of the awesome stories about Audie Murphy. As it turned out, I ended up going to North Hollywood High School with one of his sons, Terry. He was always very quiet, kept to himself, and seemed to be introverted. I always thought that it must be a heavy cross to bear, being the son of the most decorated war hero in American history. We graduated in 1970 and was sad to hear that the very next year in 1971 is when Audie had that crash. We all know about the movie star stuff, but what a real honest to goodness war hero he was. Nobody will ever come close to doing what he did in a war. What an unbelievable soldier !! Added: March 19, 2016 Powered by PHP Guestbook - brought to you by PHP Scripts

While my husband was stationed with the army at Munich, Germany, we walked in the snow around the housing compound to see Audie Murphy's movie "To Hell and Back" at the army base theater. It was a special "date" night. I do have the vhs of his movie and enjoy watching it over many times. He was a rare "breed" as we of the 1940s say. He should not be forgotten nor his character forgotten. We need more Audie Murphy strong and straight heart. Thanks for this opportunity to read more about Audie. - Marcella Pace
