Audie Murphy's grandmother was a sister of my great
grandmother--------that makes us cousins. We descended
from John Berry and his 3rd wife Hannah Devore of Georgetown, Texas. Their remaining league of land is now
Berry Springs Park.

I've always admired Audie Murphy. I knew he was a hero then and is a hero now. I watched his movies as a kid and I was saddened by his death, right around the same time as Jim Croce and not really much in the press. As a retired army paratrooper I admire him even more... I know what he went through and not one word of PTSD from him.

Wow, what an amazing man! To be honest apart from being a huge western fan and loving Audie's movies, I was completely unaware of his story. I'm only in my forties but he remains my elderly fathers favourite western actor and also mine. Like many people of his era that served in the War, too little recognition remains for their amazing and unimaginable sacrifice. He will forever have my total respect and every time I watch him in a movie will enjoy all the more after knowing what he did. Hats off to whoever created this site and for honouring a wonderful mans achievements. Thanks and regards Glen (also a mention from my father Roy Howard)
