I saw his movie, To Hell and Back, as a young child. I was completely enthralled by what he did. I looked up to him as a true American Hero in every sense of the word. I work for the Dept of Veterans Affairs and I see what PTSD does to our returning heroes. I truly wish he could have received the help he needed, but again, he thought of others by campaigning to have the Government recognize and treat our soldiers who need help.

May God grant him peace.

As an ex-service man I admired Audie for what he achieved in WW11 and the films he made were great. I hope he is given the Honour of the Presidential Medal of Freedom as soon as possible.
It was a tragedy the way he died, he still had a lot to offer.

As the son of a WWII Navy Seabee veteran, I just want to say that Audie Murphy ranks up there with my heroes. Love his movies, especially the onrs with Dan Duryea.
I find a little pride in the fact that the most decorated veterans on both WWI and WWII were southernets.,I am glad to have found this site dedicatex to Audie.
He's up there with John Wayne, as a man's man. Long live his memory.

Often I walk in the hallway of building 1001, HQ III Corps building, 2nd floor, West wing, Fort Hood, Texas and view the photos of this great hero. I also view the display case with some of his personal items including combat gear, badges, metals and other uniform items. A hand painted picture of him hangs above his display in the main corridor of this legendary Tank CORPS HQ. He is celebrated as a great hero at "The Great Place", Fort Hood, Texas. It is a Soldiers honor to be selected as a member of the SAM Club. I was in San Antonio a few weeks ago in the old Gunther Hotel and was able to view photos of him marching on horseback in front of this Hotel and the Old Majestic Theater. What a great man, a great American Hero and role model for our Soldiers in service to this nation. GOD bless Sergeant Audie Murphy.
