One of my most favorite western actors. I love the story
of his service to our country in the movie, "To Hell and
Back." I have this movie and keep it in a safe place. I am a retired Navy veteran and one of my grandsons has been deployed in Irag twice. I really wish the people of
our country, (who have never been to war), would realize
how much our military people have to endure to ensure our
freedom.

Saw an old movie of his and remembered from history his WWII escapades, good to reread about his heroism. Glad his memory will not be lost as he is a true American hero.

I'm sitting here watching "Destry" with my husband - remembering how much I loved Audie Murphy as a child growing up on our horse farm. Thankfully he will live on in our memory, and in our children's memory. I hope that's a comfort to his family.

It is very sad time when our younger generation forgets the solders that gave use the rights we currently have today. People like Audie should never be forgotten. We cannot thank them enough for the service they have performed for all of us. :!mad:

I have seen TO HELL and BACK more times than I can remember. I don't know how much of the movie was true but the medals speak for themselves. I am proud that Mr Murphy was a citizen of this country.

I have always admired Audey Murphy. There is not very much that I could say her that would do justice to what he did for our country, our way of life and our freedoms but I will always be grateful America has men like him in it's darkest hours. DRW USMC
