My family and I had the opportunity to visit Mr. Murphy's grave at Arlington and it was very humbling. Thank you Mr. Murphy for your service to our country! The Walker's

he was a modest, intellegent, brave and honest American. He really should have gotten 3 or 4 Medals Of Honor, but the powers that be didn't believe that one individual should get more than one. So they gave him every other medal that they could think of. He did not believe that he should have been honored like he was. He just did what he had to do to protect his friends and his fellow combatants. Just think all of that bravery from one little Texan! I'm just proud to have served in the US military and proud to be an American. God bless the United States of America!

I grew up watching the 'old style' Westerns and especially movies that Audie Murphy starred in. He had an appeal like John Wayne and was loved just as much. :)

Wish we had more good examples like Audie Murphy for young people to follow than what they call today's "heroes". Really have enjoyed his film career. :!movie:

I am the daughter of an Army veteran, Special Forces, fought in three wars. I have lived my entire life with an acute understanding of the mind set of a soldier. I live in Fayetteville, NC... Home of the history of heroes. I'll never forget Audie Murphy.

I just spent over an hour on youtube from the link on this site. Have always found Mr. Murphy intriguing and heroic. Although he didn't see himself as heroic....those guys never do!
He lived in his 40 some years the life of 4 people!
Odd as it is, I love the idea of this person from Texas. Most branches of the military said no way. It's funny, nowadays kids are saying 'I cant believe that team didn't take him, look how good he is!' We do not have heros like this anymore. A man, a mission, and a duty to carry it out. Love your memory Mr. Murphy. May it live as long as Achilles!

Although I am a career Marine, since I was a younster, I have admired Audie Murphy for his bravery, character, and superb service to our country. I have also thoroughly enjoyed watching his many movies, particularly "To Hell and Back."

He is truly the quintessential "American Hero" in so many ways. It is a pity he died so young, with so much left to offer.

May God forever bless his memory.
