I have admired Audy Murphy since a young boy when I first watched a movie depicting his WW2 actions. Lately I have been enjoying his western films and realizing the strong character he was.

Audie Murphy was a hero of mine growing up, both, in film but most in service to his country and mine. He is a rare breed and understood what "to solemnly swear to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States". His heroism is far above the call of Duty and should have been awarded The Congressional Medal of Honor more than once. He was the biggest short hero this country will ever know. A wonderful man and TRULY GREAT AMERICAN.

One of my most favorite western actors. I love the story
of his service to our country in the movie, "To Hell and
Back." I have this movie and keep it in a safe place. I am a retired Navy veteran and one of my grandsons has been deployed in Irag twice. I really wish the people of
our country, (who have never been to war), would realize
how much our military people have to endure to ensure our
freedom.

Saw an old movie of his and remembered from history his WWII escapades, good to reread about his heroism. Glad his memory will not be lost as he is a true American hero.

I'm sitting here watching "Destry" with my husband - remembering how much I loved Audie Murphy as a child growing up on our horse farm. Thankfully he will live on in our memory, and in our children's memory. I hope that's a comfort to his family.

It is very sad time when our younger generation forgets the solders that gave use the rights we currently have today. People like Audie should never be forgotten. We cannot thank them enough for the service they have performed for all of us. :!mad:
