I had the pleasure of meeting Audie and his wife in 1970, when he managed my cousins boxxing career.
I received 3 pairs of shoes from Audie which I wish I had held on to...I never thought that he was close to the end of his life here on earth...
I don't know much about Audie as a soldier, other than what I have read, but I do know that he was a great person in general...I am glad that I had the opportunity to get to meet him, and sit with him at boxing matches, and dinners. :!cool:

Audie Murphy were one of the most, if not the most,
accomplished and courageous combat soldiers in the
history of warfare. We are forever greatfull to him for
helping us to defeat the nazis.

My Canadian born mother (met my US father flying with the RAF Ferry Command during WWII in Montreal) who became a US citizen much later took my brother and I to see To Hell and Back when we were little. She came across the border so that we would be born on American soil in spite of the fact that American citizenship was ours regardless and she instilled a value of the gift of America for which I will be eternally grateful to her. This movie has stayed with me as a story of those who paid the price of our freedoom. It is a sad truth that that perspective is not with many of those who would give away the gift of America in return for a fantasy which will evaporate. :!brokenheart: :!brokenheart:

I am so happy to see this is here. I am presently doing a study of Audie Murphy. I hope that my own children will pass this information on so more Americans know and understand the sacrifice's that were made for our freedom.

I've always been a fan of Audie Murphy. My father used to take me to the pictures, back in the 50's, and Audie Murphy has been a favourite of mine ever since. His clean cut lovely face and the decent way about him that he had will be eternal.

Marilyn Paul born twenty years after Audie.

I LOVE AUDIE MURPHY WESTERNS. I;M DEEPLY MOVED BY ALL HE DID IN THE WAR. HE'S THE GREATEST AND DESERVES ALL THE AWARDS HE GOT. I SERVED IN VIET-NAM FROM 68-69 AND I WAS ALSO A STRAIGHT LEG INFANTRYMAN. ALL OUR SOLDIERS ARE HEROES, SOME MORE THAN OTHERS, I KNOW THIS. GOD BLESS THEM ALL AND GOD BLESS THE AUDIE MURPHEY'S OF OUR ARMED FORCES.
