I am so happy to see someone do something to honor Audie Murphy.Mama and Daddy used to take me to the movies when I was a little squirt, and Audie was my favorite actor.I thought he was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen and I loved to hear him talk.I was going to marry him when I grew up. The first movie I remember seeing him in was one with Dan Duryea, who Audie was hunting down because he thought he killed his daddy and brothers. It turned out he didn't and he saved Audie's life in the end and lost his own after they found the real killers of his family.Good ending but sad, too. I ran across this site searching for another Murphy,so I checked on Audie again.Hadn't done it in such a long time. Was surprised and delighted to find this. I didn't think there were any pictures in the world of him and his family.I'm saving this to my desktop and am going to really enjoy returning to it and learning more about him and seeing pictures. I found out a few years ago, searching him, that he had had trouble with post traumatic stress and alcohol. If anybody deserved a happier life,it was him. That's so sad. I know he's happy now and at peace. And I still love you Audie Murphy. Added: March 4, 2012

I have been an Audie Murphy Fan and admirer since I was a boy. I loved watching all the old movies staring Audie. In 1976 My brothers, Dad, and I were hunting near Blacksburg, Va when we came upon the Granite marker that told of Mr. Murphy's plane crash. It was a very solemn moment for us all. My Dad was just a boy himself when Audie Murphy was in the war and earned all those honors. A local VFW erected the monument in Mr. Murphy's honor.
