Audie was and is the best actor ever! I wish I could have met him and just talked to him because he lived a great life. I'm 28 years old but still one of his biggest fans. Thanks for this website!

There are few heroes today that come close to the accomplishments Audie Murphy was able to accomplish. I also enjoyed him as an actor in the war movies, but not too much as a cowboy. Its a shame that a person can complete the feats that he did and die in an airplane crash.

I went to the Audie Murphy Memorial on Brush Mountain on Friday, October 12. The road up to it was brutal (one lane, washed out and rugged). The .7 mile walk to the site was very nice. The monument has several personal items placed at it and hundreds (probably thousands) of rocks placed all around it. The US flag and Texas flag are flown above it.
I have lived here most of my life (also when he crashed), but this was the first time I went to view the memorial.
I'm glad I did.

This website has a great amount of information on Audie Murphy. Thanks for having it.

I first saw Audie when I was a kid when I saw To Hell And Back. I had seen Red Badge of Courage but didn't know he was a war hero. I have the utmost respect for him and his family and I wish to express my gratitude for all that he did. It was a sad day when I heard of his death in a plane crash in North Carolina. We lost a great man.

I have so much respect for the Military Personnel that have sacrificed so much in order for my family and I to live in freedom in our Great Nation. I am a son of United States Army Soldier who served in the Korean War and I am so proud of my father who recievd two Bronze Stars in Combat during the Korean War. Even though my Father died in 2006 at the age of 78 he never bragged or talked that much about his time he spent in Combat. I knew he was involved in day to day Combat Operations that were so brutal that no American that has not served in the Military could begin to understand what Soldiers went thru. I am a true fan of the War movies of Audie Murphy and others who gave us a history lesson of the Military Operations of past Wars. Thank you Audie Murphy for being a Great American Hero. :D
