I read his book "To hell and back" at the age of 11, and never forgot his story. Watched his films and felt good about this soldier making it in the civilian world. I was a second lieutenant in the Northern Norwegian Brigade when he died in -71. I still remember the feelings of loss and sorrow. In many ways he was my first role model(after my parents), and to me he still epitomizes what a citizen and a soldier should be.
In respect and gratitude,

I (in these uncertain times) enjoy being reminded that honor and code has always been part of the american soldiers tradition.

As a Navy vet I am truly in admiration of what a real hero is in this great country in Audie Murphy. Please keep his name and memory alive as when I watch his movies I think of what our country needs today especially " To hell and Back" I relive what he must have gone through and even with a battle injury. God Bless, Mick Dwyer
