Luck brought me to this site. Now, I can express my thoughts about this great man.
As a kid, I watched Murphy in many movies & he became my hero in the movies. When he and a few other actors showed up in my small Indiana town, he was a class act & this further solidified my admiration. As I evolved, I learned of the greatness in this young Texan.
Having been in harms way, I know a bit of what he went through. Having met another Medal of Honor recipient, I've realized these heroes aren't the 'bayonet between the teeth, damn the torpedoes, I'm Attila the Hun' people you'd expect. They're ordinary, young men who find themselves in a very bad situation & do what they can to get themselves & their comrades out of the mess in one piece.
I'm very proud to have served in Audie Murphy's Army. He is a superb role model for anyone in the military.

I have always been an admirer of Audie ever since the 1950's.

I have followed his career as a soldier and as a movie star.

I was so sorry when he was killed.

I met Audie at the LA County Fair Grounds when I was about 11 years old. Never fell out of love for him. I am now 71.

I remember as a young bloke going to the movies and watching To Hell & Back. Later I also watched Audie in his westerns.
Now as an old bloke (in my late 60's) I like to reminisce my younger days watching cowboy movies and Audie is right up there.
Thank you for the opportunity.

Steve

Audie Murphy has always been my hero !
I have seen many times his movies and visited his grave every time i am in DC. There are very few men today that can even touch his boot straps.

I've read his book and seen his movie and find it sad that folks are starting to forget. I first knew him from his movies as I love westerns, when I got older and started liking to read about people I discovered his war career from seeing the based on book info in the credit of To Hell and Back.
