Comment:
seeing Audie in the movies I always detected a sense that this was a really nice guy. He really didn't seem to fit the classic movie star looks and acting style but it must have been his lifestyle and heroics that attracted people to him. I remember seeing a Western with Jimmy Stewart and Audie together. I think they played brothers. Jimmy carried an accordian around in this movie. My mom knew of him and often spoke of him. After I learned about his war record I was really impressed. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. As a Christian I have always valued humility and Audie, I am lead to believe, was a man with great humility in spite of his great achievements. I feel sad that more people are not made aware of this Great American Icon whom we really do need to treasure. His picture should be on a coin or our paper money as a reminder. Added: July 25, 2013

As a boy growing up in Trinidad, West Indies in the 1960's, Audie Murphy was a hero of ours. To this day, I remember him and is one of my 2 heroes throughout my life, alongside Mahatma Gandhi. Every time a movie of his is on tv I must watch all or if not, at least a part of it. May he rest in peace and receive God's blessings for his heroics for this great country and others during WWII.
