Loved history all my life. Big history buff. I loved .Audie Murphy and can still rember his tragic death when I was18. How could what he did not effect his life. He was just a child when the war ended when he was 19. Because of him more men survived and by gods blessing he also survived but a changed man forever . God bless him and all the other greatest generation. Including my father 1922 2008 also a vet who helped save the world Arthur G * * *. They do not make men such as these anymore! God bless all we have lost and what we have enjoyed due to all their sacrifices. Respect always to all men who died and survived this To Hell and Back.

I was born after the war (1949) but vividly remember attending, as a child, with my parents and siblings, the motion picture, "To Hell and Back". That experience left a permanent mark on me and upon my heart. I raised six children (2 girls & 4 boys) and each one of my kids know who Audie Murphy is (was). One of my son's even bears a remarkable resemblance to Audie. I think that the biography of Audie entitled "No Name On The Bullet", should be required reading in all of our high schools.
