I WAS JUST WATCHING THE MOVIE, TO HELL AND BACK, I STARTED THINKING ABOUT MY DAD AS AN ARMY SOLDER, HE ALWAYS SPOKE OF MR. MURPHY. MY DAD WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL "MERRIAL'S MURADERS". THEY MADE A MOVIE ABOUT THESE MEN. THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIAL ON MR. MURPHY.

My father was stationed in Ft. Lewis in Washington State in the US Army during the time the movie "To Hell And Back" was filmed and he appeared as an 'extra' and was one of the many Nazis in the movie. In the 1970's when I would watch the movie with him, the movie ran over 2 hrs. In that version, when Murphy goes into the house at Anzio, he kicks the door in and shoots two sniper nazi soldiers. My dad was one of them. In the past few years, I've seen a different take on that scene. Murphy throws a grenade into the room where the Nazi snipers are and goes in after the blast to find them dead. The film now only runs 106 minutes. Wish I could find the longer version. My dad loved being in that movie. I've been to Arlington twice and always look for Audie Murphy's grave.

I am68 yr.old and Audie has been my hero since I was a teenager. I wish I would have the priviledge and honor to have met him. IF the young people of nowadays would be one tenth of what he was the world would be a much better place.I pray that his family is well.

I'VE ALWAYS LOVED WATCHING AUDIE MURPHY FILMS, EVEN WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL IN ENGLAND. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY YOUNG PEOPLE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO HE IS. I'VE ASKED SEVERAL PEOPLE I WORK WITH AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE. THAT'S A SHAME, HE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST WAR HEROS EVER, AND EVERYONE-ESPECIALLY IN HIS HOME STATE OF TEXAS-SHOULD KNOW WHO HE IS. I RECENTLY BOUGHT HIS WHISPERING SMITH VIDEOS,AND JUST LOVE WATCHING THEM.

My Dad was an Army Ranger Infantry solider in WWII served in the Pacific. His Brother was in the Navy also in the Pacific. My Brother served as a National Guard called up as a result of the riots that followed Martin Luther King's assignation. Three days later I went to the Army. I served a year in Viet Nam as a grunt. My brothers Son volunteered and served in the Army during peace time. My middle son tried to enlist in the Army but was turned down because of a kidney operation. My youngest son joined the Army reserve and served three tours in the Iraqi Theater as an Engineer. I had prayed and asked the Lord if my boys could skip this war. Instead I feel like the Lord showed me that each generation has to pay and defend the Freedoms we have. I saw and was inspired by Audie's movie my brother and I saw when I was nine. My Uncle, a Korean War Vet took us. Proud of Audie and His service to our Great American Country. God bless America...

Audie Murphy was a great American hero. He was someone people should not forget. Our children shod be taught about him in our schools, both public and private. It would be a terrible thing if future generations didn't know what he did and stood for. :D
