seeing Audie in the movies I always detected a sense that this was a really nice guy. He really didn't seem to fit the classic movie star looks and acting style but it must have been his lifestyle and heroics that attracted people to him. I remember seeing a Western with Jimmy Stewart and Audie together. I think they played brothers. Jimmy carried an accordian around in this movie. My mom knew of him and often spoke of him. After I learned about his war record I was really impressed. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. As a Christian I have always valued humility and Audie, I am lead to believe, was a man with great humility in spite of his great achievements. I feel sad that more people are not made aware of this Great American Icon whom we really do need to treasure. His picture should be on a coin or our paper money as a reminder.

I GREW UP WATCHING AUDIE'S MOVIES, WESTERNS AND WAR MOVIES. IT WAS A SAD DAY WHEN THE NEWS CAME THAT HE HAD PASSED. HE WAS AND STILL IS THE GREATEST HERO THAT I HAVE EVER KNOWN.THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER TO TAKE HIS PLACE.

As a boy growing up in Trinidad, West Indies in the 1960's, Audie Murphy was a hero of ours. To this day, I remember him and is one of my 2 heroes throughout my life, alongside Mahatma Gandhi. Every time a movie of his is on tv I must watch all or if not, at least a part of it. May he rest in peace and receive God's blessings for his heroics for this great country and others during WWII.

It's wonderful that there is a site for one of our good American heros. Too many times people forget, become complacent, or just never knew what sacrifices our combat soldiers endure for such little reward. Our best gift is to never forget.

God bless you.

I recently visited the Audie Murphy Memorial at the place of the Colmar pocket battle in France. Audie is respectfully honored and remembered. Our tour guide, Malcolm Waddell, gave an exact account of Audie Murphy's one-man-stand atop a burning tank. At the conclusion of Malcolm's account he recited the Veteran's Prayer. All in our group were moved to tears.
