I have loved Mr. Murphy since I was a little girl and first saw him in to the movie To Hell and Back. It is too bad we don't have more like him anymore.

When someone learns to accept responsibility for themselves and for others, that trait carries over into all area of their lives. Audie is a great example of this. He understood duty, be it at home or on the battlefield. It is tragic that our nation has drifted so far away from such basic values and that now so many will not even accept responsibility for themselves, wanting--even expecting--others to provide for all their needs. We so badly need more Audie Murphy's today. Just so wonderful that we had the one when we did, and had him when we needed him. Rest In Peace, Audie!

Born in 1943, my friends and I grew up well aware of Audie Murphy. Saw his movies, read and talked about him a lot. In our eyes he was a real hero and great role model.

I have known that Audie was a well decorated USA soldier for a very long time, and also that he was a movie star.
I did not know he also wrote music.

Thank You for this Memorial Website. It's important for today's youth to read about unselfish behavior, bravery and courage.I remember as a child Audie Murphy playing himself in a movie.Nothing to compare to date as a role model.

Thank You again,

I enjoyed Audie's movies emensely when I was young and was extremely saddened by his death in 1971. I was just 17, but held him in high regard as an actor. He was one of my favorites along with James Stewart, Gary Cooper and John Wayne.
His memory should be Honoured and remembered for his greatest contribution, his fight for World Peace in World War II.

I have loved Audie Murphy since 1970. He was an amazing man and a hero that will live on forevere. I read his book "To Hell and Back" and saw the movie also. He suffered from depression because of the war. He had a very hard life as a boy and took care of his younger siblings as best as he could. When he died a part of me died too.

No. 1 and No.3 are my favorite pictures. They look the most like the real Audie Murphy, I believe. He was without a doubt a great hero. God Bless Him and may he always rest in peace.
