I served eight years in the U.S. Army both as a Miliary Policeman and a Chaplain Assistant (I got out and went back in within a two year period). I really liked Mr. Murphy and his Service to this Country and his continuing service with the Veterans Administration! RIP Sir! SGT Gary A. Audie L. MURPHY was a member of the greatest generation to have ever lived and his time upon this earth was spent in the service and defense of others. I am not of a generation that had the privilege to have seen him or known him but through his movies and his military duty i have come to admire him and commemorate his life. RIP Mr MURPHY Added: January 13, 2016

I was born in "43" and the first movie I saw was an Audi Murphy western and then I learned what he had done during the war from my father and I idolized the man ever since. I cried the day he was killed. In my mind this was what a real "Hero" is and always will be. May you rest in eternal peace . Growing up, our father had talked about Audie Murphy quite a bit. Being a Marine himself and after fighting in the South Pacific, dad knew who was a true hero. My sister and I love watching his films, such a great actor...it would have been a sincere honor to have met him. I am so glad this foundation was formed to commemorate Mr.Murphy as a hero, actor, man, an all around great human being.
