Comment:
As a fellow career US Army veteran, Audie Murphy was my personal inspiration, along with John Wayne, to join the US Army and strive to be a worthy role model to my soldiers, friends and family. I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army Reserves after 27 years. I have always been a huge fan of all his movies and have enjoyed watching them over and over again. His memory will be with me for the rest of my life. Added: May 29, 2016

When our schools and public continue to downplay the history of our nation and those like Audie Murphy who tried so hard to get our government into action. It will be those of you who will continue that battle. As an Army veteran I tried to attain being selected into the Audie Murphy club, but never could manage to get to that level. I hope to see his grave at Arlington soon as well as to see his statue at Ft. Benning, GA. Added: May 27, 2016

I am of the generation that appreciated the brave and brilliant achievements of Audie Murphy. In 1961, I was attending graduate school at UCLA and decided to go for a round of golf myself in the San Fernando Valley where I was living. I was alone and they placed me with a stranger for the round. That happened to be Audie Murphy playing with a canvas golf bag and a few clubs. I had the time of my life playing golf and talking to someone I admired greatly. I did notice however that Audie was kind of sad and withdrawn. I felt bad. I will never forget this time long ago. He was a very great man. Added: May 25, 2016 Powered by PHP Guestbook - brought to you by PHP Scripts

To this day I carry a faded picture of Audie in my wallet and I have done for over 50yrs.
I still remember laughing at his phrasing of words and the funny way he made a capital I looking like a 4 to me til I married a Texan and went there then I found out everyone phrased words his way and wrote 4s for I s lol
I received 4 letters from him as a teenager but sadly I left them at home and they were later destroyed.
I am now 73 but as long as I live he will be remembered and loved.
