As a fellow career US Army veteran, Audie Murphy was my personal inspiration, along with John Wayne, to join the US Army and strive to be a worthy role model to my soldiers, friends and family. I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army Reserves after 27 years. I have always been a huge fan of all his movies and have enjoyed watching them over and over again. His memory will be with me for the rest of my life.

When our schools and public continue to downplay the history of our nation and those like Audie Murphy who tried so hard to get our government into action. It will be those of you who will continue that battle. As an Army veteran I tried to attain being selected into the Audie Murphy club, but never could manage to get to that level. I hope to see his grave at Arlington soon as well as to see his statue at Ft. Benning, GA.

I am of the generation that appreciated the brave and
brilliant achievements of Audie Murphy.

In 1961, I was attending graduate school at UCLA and decided to
go for a round of golf myself in the San Fernando Valley where I
was living. I was alone and they placed me with a stranger for
the round. That happened to be Audie Murphy playing with a canvas
golf bag and a few clubs.

I had the time of my life playing golf and talking to someone
I admired greatly. I did notice however that Audie was kind of
sad and withdrawn. I felt bad.

I will never forget this time long ago. He was a very great man.

My great grandfather, my grandfather,
My daddy Ronald Beach each of their names has fought for our country. This man as well as other's NEED to be remembered. I love this country and we should all help our men and women that have served. They were promised to be taken care of. Lets keep that promise. Don't make a promise unless you know you can keep it!!
