I had the privilage of serving in the 2/64th Armor back in the early 70's, and every where you went there was a picture of Audie Murphy. He was my hero then and is still my hero!

To this day I carry a faded picture of Audie in my wallet and I have done for over 50yrs.
I still remember laughing at his phrasing of words and the funny way he made a capital I looking like a 4 to me til I married a Texan and went there then I found out everyone phrased words his way and wrote 4s for I s lol
I received 4 letters from him as a teenager but sadly I left them at home and they were later destroyed.
I am now 73 but as long as I live he will be remembered and loved.

As a fellow career US Army veteran, Audie Murphy was my personal inspiration, along with John Wayne, to join the US Army and strive to be a worthy role model to my soldiers, friends and family. I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army Reserves after 27 years. I have always been a huge fan of all his movies and have enjoyed watching them over and over again. His memory will be with me for the rest of my life.
