Comment:
As a young boy I remember my father telling us about Audie Murphy. My father was a pilot in WWII and he had nothing but praise for Audie. He told us about Audie's heroic acts and the numerous medals he received. It was because of my dad that we went to our local cinema at the time to see "To Hell and Back". What a story and what a great hero. Added: March 13, 2018

Thank you for including the picture of me with Audie Murphy (Military, photo #51). I must submit a few corrections, however. This picture was taken after the "Smallfry Muster" which was held just prior to the 36th Infantry Division's "Dress Parade" . Both were part of the "middle weekend" activities, during the 36th Infantry Division's two week summer camp, at North Fort Hood. My father served with the 36th before WWII, transfered into the Army Air Corps for the duration the war. He spent 22 months in a German POW camp and, upon his recovery, rejoind the Texas National Guard, 36th Infantry Division in 1946, and remained an active member of the 36th untill his death in 1967. He took this picture and I am sure he would not mind your using it. Added: June 14, 2018

My husband and I love watching Audie's movies and tell our grands about his valor and heroism for freedom during WW 11. We agree that his life should be brought before the public. We need 'heroes' that show a great love for our country. He certainly is one of our finest heroes. Added: June 10, 2018
