From the time I was 8yo and Mom would let me go to the library I studied and copied anything I could find on Mr Murphy. I found the movie "To Hell and Back" and was in awe of this man. I wrote papers in school until I was told I needed to branch out a little. My Mother found me a first edition of the book "To Hell and Back" I didn't, at the time, understand the significance of a first edition so I read and reread it. I still have it in a place of pride in my home and I still reread it from time to time. He was and still is my second Hero of all. Dad will always be first. Added: May 28, 2018

June 1960, peace time Kitzingen, Germany, my patrol partner Merle Spicer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and myself were given the honor of Guarding and Protecting Audie Murphy while filming a documentary, "Return To The 3rd Division, Than and Now". We found Audie to be very Humble and Polite and even asked us if we wish a photo with him of which we gratefully replied yes. This photo in located in my possession and in the Allegheny Kiski Historical Society Museum along with other photos of this special occasion. I will submit the photo if asked to do so, it shows Audie asking us to pretend we are apprehending him being Merle and I are 536th M.P's Added: May 28, 2018

Remembering Mr Murphy today, my Dad was a WWII Navy vet, and I remember both my parents telling me about Audie Murphy and what a wonderful and amazing soldier he was. My parents thought a great deal of his movies too. So I had to read all I could about him, and he WAS amazing. I hope his family knows how much he was/is loved. Added: May 28, 2018

When I was a kid, I watched Audie Murphy movies. Back the, I didn't know that he served our country and how amazing his military career was. He is truly an inspiration and I hope future generations will learn of this wonderful man and all that he did for our country. Thank you, Audie Murphy, for your service to our country! I just saw The Red Badge of Courage on this, Memorial Day. My first time seeing it. I looked up Mr. Murphy's name and read about his service in all the wars he was in and the very impressive medals he was awarded. I am in awe! I also read about his early life and about his thoughts when his Mother died, and all his siblings and how he did his best to take care of them. I was very sad to read that he had died at an early age. Thank you very much for your service. RIP Sir.
