I remember as a young girl, my Momma telling me the story of Audie Murphy, she also took me to the movies to see him on the big screen. I was smitten from that moment on. As I got older, I educated myself through very few resources about this great HERO from the state of Texas of these United States. Thank GOD, he was so determined. God Bless!! Added: May 29, 2018

My dad and my uncles all fought in Europe in WW2. They never talked about it. Most of what I learned came from movies like 'Red Badge of Courage' as a kid. I grew up only to serve in the infantry in Vietnam. I always admired Audie and always feel a kinship with him. A different war; a different generation. We have a bond that will never be broken. We did our best; but the fight for freedom must never end. Our nation is the worlds only hope. Added: May 29, 2018

Hi. My Dad introduced me to Audie Murphy. He told me about his bravery in the 2 World War and all the medals he received. I remember when Audie lost his life. Dad commenting on the tragedy. My Dad loved Audies movies and I'd often sit and watch them with him. I think he felt a kinship with Audie as he served his National Service in Germany from 1951 to 1953. Sadly my Dad passed away in 2017 but thanks to him I will always remember Audie Murphys bravery. Added: May 28, 2018

I just saw The Red Badge of Courage on this, Memorial Day. My first time seeing it. I looked up Mr. Murphy's name and read about his service in all the wars he was in and the very impressive medals he was awarded. I am in awe! I also read about his early life and about his thoughts when his Mother died, and all his siblings and how he did his best to take care of them. I was very sad to read that he had died at an early age. Thank you very much for your service. RIP Sir. Added: May 28, 2018

From the time I was 8yo and Mom would let me go to the library I studied and copied anything I could find on Mr Murphy. I found the movie "To Hell and Back" and was in awe of this man. I wrote papers in school until I was told I needed to branch out a little. My Mother found me a first edition of the book "To Hell and Back" I didn't, at the time, understand the significance of a first edition so I read and reread it. I still have it in a place of pride in my home and I still reread it from time to time. He was and still is my second Hero of all. Dad will always be first.
