Audie Murphy has always been an inspiration to anyone that knew his background .... He was truly gifted by God to achieve goals that would seem by many to be beyond your reach.

Admin reply: Thank you Dennis for your comment. So much done at such an early age ... if it weren't so well documented and witnessed, no one would believe Audie's feats were possible.

I am thrilled beyond belief when President Trump announced one of the statues in the New Memorial Garden would be Audie L. Murphy. It brought me to tears. I just got through reading to Hell and Back and saw the movie. We should have an Audie Murphy Day!! He was one of the bravest souls in our universe.

Admin reply: I can confirm that a LOT of people are thrilled. We have received a lot of messages in the last several days to this end. WOW!

I was priviledged to have learned about Mr Murphy only couple of years ago. His life is an amazing example of what it means to be an American. Unfortunately his life was cut short with his untimely death. We could really use an "Audie Murphy" today to show our young people what it means to be an American. I thank him for his service, dedication to country, and to have served as an example of what it means to be a real Anerican.

Admin reply: I agree Janet. As a teacher, I appreciate your thoughtful comment. In the many years I have been doing this website, I have discovered that the newer generations are fascinated about Audie. The biggest limiting factor about acquiring information on him seems to be that not enough adults are passing the history of Audie on.

Audie is one of my heroes growing up. I am 64 years old and still think of him often. I visited his grave at Arlington Cemetery. His story is one of a kind. He is an example of pure unselfishness in a world that deserves much less. May his story continue to be told and his honor held high by those who appreciate men such as he.

Admin reply: Hi Roger. My understanding is that Audie will soon be one of the 30 prominent figures of history that will be honored in the National Garden of Heroes. I don't know the time-frame of construction on this monument / National landmark or where it will be, but if it is in DC I hope on your next visit you will be able to see the Garden and Audie in it.
