It is an honor to sign the guestbook, I look forward to being part of this military legacy and earn my acceptance into the Sergeant Audie L. Murphy Club to help my fellow Soldiers pursue their goals and aspirations and provide the support to them and their family.

Admin reply: Congratulations to you for your induction into the SAMC ... a feat that isn't easy and one I know you are proud of. Thank you for your service too!

I respect Audie Murphy and men like him who fought for freedom and those who continue to serve their country. My father was in the navy during World War II.

Audie’s courage and tenacity that he demonstrated throughout his life should be an example to all of us. His young eyes saw too much of the hell of war but I believe that he was saved for a special purpose, to put his experiences into words, to overcome his personal demons and to try and help others see that soldiers may go to hell but they still bring some of it back with them, and then to see how he was able to give us an opportunity to take some time to forget our troubles and just enjoy a good, clean, wholesome movie.

After finishing his one last mission, he had completed what he was saved for and he was finally able to rest from all of his cares. However, he will never really be gone. All we have to do is put a disk in the video player and there is that boyish face that saw so much and yet gave all he had.

Admin reply: Beautifullly said, Jennefer. Thank you.

Audie was just 10yrs older than me.
My Father in law knew his family and Audie although
he was quite a bit older.
I think I've seen the majority of his films, I don't
believe he ever made a bad one.
I really would love to see **TO HELL AND BACK** again
but it's never showing anywhere although his westerns are on almost every weekend on Dish, and a pleasure to watch again.

Admin reply: Mel, it is generally shown on military-related holidays such as Veteran's Day and Memorial Day. It will come around again.

I love watching Audie’s western movies and I have seen one of his war movies. He was a great actor and I believe that his real sense of self continually showed in each character he portrayed. I kind of wished that he and John Wayne would have done a western. It would have been the greatest western of all times. As a baby boomer I grew up seeing his movies and knowing about WWII and his history or rather his substantial legacy as a true hero. It was such a shame we lost him to soon, we could use more men like him in today’s shameful world. All cheers to one of America’s greatest hero ever.

Admin reply: A lot of people thought Audie Murphy should have co-starred with John Wayne in "The Alamo." John Wayne happened to be the producer and director of that movie and the story is that John Wayne didn't want to be upstaged by Audie. John Wayne, as a business man, probably recognized that his star might begin to "fade" if Audie and he were ever cast side by side in a movie. That's the theory, anyway. Regardless, it was John Wayne's movie as the star, director, and the producer so he got his way.
