Thank you, Audie for service to our country. You are a true American hero. Your exploits during WWII are legendary. There are not enough words to be able to thank you and those who served in WWII,especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

To soldiers, sailors and airmen of past, present and future, God Bless you and the United States of America!

I think our country needs a hero more than ever. It seems to me that the lack of education is the largest of our problems. The youth of our country needs to be taught pride and patriotism. Mr Murphy would be , should be the icon of our nations' pride in the armed services.

Audie was my inspiration to jion the service, becuase of my vision I could only jion the guard. I served from nov 79 to 1990, From pfc to captain I still miss it all.
I never saw combat yet I was ready to my duty. Family obligations made me leave it all behind.I mention Audie to my sons and friends. He passed way before his time.

I have been a fan of Audie Murphy since I was just a kid, going to the movies and reading about his war exploits. I am 68 years old, and I still seek out his old movies and have seen "To Hell And Back" probably 30 or more times.

I have written before but wondered if anyone has heard anymore about Dave Phillips petition for the presidential medal of freedom for Audie - I cannot understand why the presidents - bush - both of them can't do something about this - sr bush was at Arlington when he was buried - and am hoping in 2012 the tx. Legislature will give him their medal of freedom came in second in 2011 - it's true the heroes today are not soldiers but athletes how sad. Encore westerns has of late been showing a lot of his great westerns have written to them hoping they would continue - again such a tremendous person with a tragic childhood etc he even said he never felt young - he gave his all for fmfamily country and comrades - with that baby face sure he is with his mom and the angels -thank you for this site

I am a History teacher in an inner city school. I become upset when students don't want to learn about the heritage of America. Some of are heritage is bad and unfortunate. I would like to correct some. I cnnot but I can help by improving the future.

Im so glad to see this website. Audie was my favorite
cowboy as a kid. I didn't know then who he really was and what he did. Our granddaughter is a teacher. We were surprised she didn't know what an important American he was. We encouraged her to tell her students about him. We still watch his movies. Several have been on today. We are watching one now. I bought his book and read it many years ago. Thanks for keeping his memory alive!
