Mr. Murphy was a courageous and amazing man. Glad he was on our side. Grew up watching most if not all of his movies. I didn't know he was a poet and song writer as well.
I'm sure if his family members are still living they are very proud of him. I know I am. Wish there were more people like him today.
Like another guest said,"He is a cutie"!
God Bless Audie Murphy!

I have been reading about Audie Murphy and did not know this person did so much for our country. I feel that we are forgetting our heros and its a crime that we do.

This man gave so much and expected nothing back. I will try to keep his legacy alive, I have served with the HI, AZ and FL National Guard and served 8 years with the U.S. Marines. All my years with the infantry.

I am proud of this man and to serve with the GUARD. Thanks for the website and I will do my best to keep his memory alive.

Sincerely
SSG Alvarado

My mom Geneva Woods was born in Wolfe city. She was the daughter of a poor share crop farmer. She lived with her 9 siblings and mom and dad. When I was growing up she would sometimes tell stories of when Audie Murphy and his family lived down the road from them when they lived in White Rock, Texas. A town between or near Wolfe city and Greenville. She said that at the time Audie was a teenager. She was 4 to 5 years younger. She would always interject that he was such a cutie! She said that his dad had left the family and Audie tried to keep the family together. It was well known at the time that Audie stole chickens from everyone! My mom passed a couple years ago and among her things I found what looks like an original photo (b&w). Audie is shaking hands in what looks like a ceremony, with then vice president LBJ. Would the family be interesting in having this photo?

Thank you for everything you've done to ensure that the memory of Audie Murphy remains with current and future generations of Americans. We owe him and the others who fought with him so very much.

No words can express the admiration and respect for someone who showed so many others what true courage is all about and what a true hero is. Although, I was blessed to have had a Dad who was my hero as well and who also served this country with pride.
