Audie Murphy served in many of the same places my grandfather did during WWII, and the last time i visited my grandfather's grave at Arlington, i literally stumbled across Audie Murphy. very humbling moment. i especially respected that his stone was a simple one. i think that's the way he would have wanted it. i will make sure that my children know the story of this American hero, and the men he fought with. thank you for keeping his memory alive.

When I was a child we lived in North Hollywood California, Mr. Murphy lived in the area at the time and my oldest Brother Jimmy was his paperboy. It was not unusual for Mr. Murphy to come out and collect his paper in person and chat with my 12 year old brother, he gave him an autographed picture of a painted portrait of himself in his Army uniform with all of his medals; at christmas he gave him a basket of candies and fruit. I never had the pleasure of meeting him but he left a deep impression on my brother that he talks about to this day some 50 years later.

Audie Murphy has been a hero of mine since I was a child in the 1940's. Later, while I served in the U.S. Army, I was stationed at Camp Walters in Mineral Wells, Texas (1959-1960), where Audie Murphy took his basic training only 17 years earlier. It was an honor to walk the grounds where such an American hero got his start in the military. From Camp Walters, I was transferred to Germany where I could see some of the places where Audie Murphy made such a difference for America. We do need to remember him and keep him in the public eye, certainly in these times of uncertainty in the United States. Thank you for what you are doing with his website.
