It is very simple really, Audie and all the Allied soldiers was a real heros who had fought against the tyranny of the Axis powers. It does not bear comprehension what these guys went through and how we are living today is a direct testament to the acts of valour and sacrifice that was made to ensure of freedom. I believe the memory of Audie should be remembered. He was truly a real hero. I myself served in Vietnam and know a little about real war. Audie Murphy was much more than a hero to our country, he was a true man with wonderful convictions. He didn't think of his own safety at all, just about saving others in his company. My husband, and I, were lucky enough to visit the Audie Murphy Memorial while on a Rhine River cruise and we were both so impressed! Visiting war sites is really not my thing, but I have to tell you that our guide was so knowledgeable about WWII, the positions of the various armies and the courage of Audie Murphy, along with several other American soldiers, that I was captivated by this history. Then, to be standing on the spot where the battle took place with little change to the area was surreal and frightening, to tell you the truth. What brave men and women we have that fight to protect our freedom! No amount of words, or thanks, is enough!! Added: September 10, 2012

I did not know him personally as i was not born and was very young when Audie was around.But i have watched most of his films over the years and he is one of my fav film stars along with alan ladd,robert taylor,and john wayne.My best film is,his bio war film.His death was very sad and i think the world has lost not only a great film star but a great man,and a hero.Who is sadly missed by all.
