I'm writing a tribute about my 86 year old mother. I know that one of her heros and favorite actors was Audie Murphy. I remember her talking about him when I was young. It's good to know that accurate information about him is available.

I am a retired U.S. Air Force Gulf War Veteran, I have always been a big fan of Audie Murphy. My family has over 400 years of miltary history, and I am proud of our heritage. It began long ago when one of My great grandfathers was the childhood friend of Pres. Abraham Lincoln, his name was Benjamin Austin Gallaher. There is an acknowledgement to him at the childhood home of Pres lincoln in Hodgenville Ky. In actuality, the cabin they have there now is actually my family's cabin.

I am also proud that our family continues to this day to serve in the military. My father served 22 years, and both of my brothers served.
