Growing up back in the 60s and 70s he was one of my favorite soldiers that ever lived (along with Sargent York). What he did for his country, the countries he fighted for and the fellow arm forces that he battled with was just an amazing thing! What he did then and his time in the movies was such a positive thing that I will remember till I die. I did spend ten and a half years in the service and I do thank God I never had to deal stuff like he did. I don't think I ever could have. There will always be a feeling of thanks to Mr. Murphy and the rest of the Arm Forces for protecting my country, my fellow citizens and my families of the past, pressent and the future!!!!!

I admired this man so much and was so proud of him. I grew up watching his wonderful movies. We lost a great hero far too soon.

Greatly missed. He was a true hero reflecting what all of Americans desire to be. Should be in our history books as an example for our young people today.
