This site is a wonderful tribute to a real hero the likes of which the world will never see again. As a young boy in the 1950's I grew up with Audie Murphy films, and even now at 70 I will always take time out to watch any of his films when they appear on television. It is only in later life that I have a limited understanding of his contribution to world war 2 and can only imagine what he went through. Hopefully his name (along with all other genuine hero's of all nations) will always be remembered by at least those who appreciate his and their sacrifices. Added: September 21, 2015

We recently visited the memorial in Alsace during a Rhine River cruise excursion. The tour guide was a wonderful story teller who held our complete attention and drew us to tears as he memorialized Audie Murphy. The movie, To Hell and Back, is quite different from the actual story in true Hollywood style, but it shows the heroism of such a young man. Today I watched "Bad Boy" for the very first time. When I saw the address on the envelope that Danny mailed to himself at the ranch, I was shocked to see the name of a small town just a few miles west of where I live, Copperas Cove, Texas! I have always been aware that there is a boy's ranch outside of town, but I had no idea it was a model for a film! I loved the movie, and so admired the attitude the ranch owner and his wife held towards the boys.
