Comment:
When I was a teenager (in the early 90s) I watched Audie Murphy´s films, especially the westerns for the first time. Although they were already quite old-fashioned in those days, I really enjoyed them and I still do today (now mostly on DVD). I was only recently that I learned a little more about one of my favourite actors, that he was America´s most decorated war hero, but also quite a tragic person suffering from his war experiences and in civil life struggling for achnowledgment as an actor. Although I only know what I read and although there are surely also negative sides (as with any other human being), I think that Audie Murphy was a really good man. I´ve nothing to do with the Second World War since I was born decades after this time, and yet I feel very sorry for the evil the Germans brought over so many people worlwide. I don´t know if Audie Murphy ever had any positive views about Germany (probably not); it just would have been good if he could have seen our nations finally come together. Added: August 25, 2015

I want to applaud and commend the creation of the Audie L. Murphy MemorIal Website! America needs its heroes to be recognized, celebrated, and memorialized as the essential role they have played in our great Nation's History. The American Public and most elected officials at all levels of local, state, and Federal Gov't quickly lose sight and memory for our true National Heroes accomplishments and the lessons learned over all these years. Without historical knowledge and experience we fail to identify foreign and domestic threats and undermine our military readiness. Keep up the good work! Hopefully your example will motivate others to do the same.
