I read 'To Hell and Back' in the late 50's and several times since, the film is compelling and is in my opinion a Classic.

Audie Murphy deserves all the recognition his country can give him as he truly represents those thousands of young men whose lives were taken from them in the Second World War.

God rest his soul

Audie Murphy, a hero of USA ww2, his life and devotion to his comrades, was exlempory, the american people should be proud of what he achieved.
My father is a hero to me and I am 56, my father served in the royal marine cammandoes, and served in action in Borneo, south Asia 1962-1963, he to was wounded. I think every soldier who serves his country in whatever action should be respected and never forgotten.

Shocking that a true hero is ignored but not surprising in this era of shallow celebrity.

I am a history enthusiast. Retired from the USAF I was stationed in Japan and Germany and have become increasingly interested in WWII, I enjoy watching old movies and recently watched To Hell and Back, and am researching Comrade Murphy's life and service. I am also the Commander of Haverhill memorial post 5245 Veterans of Foriegn Wars. Obviously Mr. Murphy was a man of superior caliber and great deeds, I would have very much liked to have met him and shared some conversation!
