I am doing a project for my military science class at the University of North Georgia military college. I am a cadet in the Corps of Cadets here. I found this website very helpful for my project. Thank you.

This site is a wonderful tribute to a real hero the likes of which the world will never see again. As a young boy in the 1950's I grew up with Audie Murphy films, and even now at 70 I will always take time out to watch any of his films when they appear on television.

It is only in later life that I have a limited understanding of his contribution to world war 2 and can only imagine what he went through.

Hopefully his name (along with all other genuine hero's of all nations) will always be remembered by at least those who appreciate his and their sacrifices.

We recently visited the memorial in Alsace during a Rhine River cruise excursion. The tour guide was a wonderful story teller who held our complete attention and drew us to tears as he memorialized Audie Murphy. The movie, To Hell and Back, is quite different from the actual story in true Hollywood style, but it shows the heroism of such a young man.

I remember seeing To Help and Back at the Alamo Theater in Holtville where encountered it first came out. I was probably about 13.

I fell in love with Audey Murphy. What an awesome hero. My sister just came back from seeing his grave and reminded me about him.
