Great actor in my opinion. Love him in westerns and of course in To Hell and Back! Great acting style. Too bad he was not properly appreciated in film.

I've admired Mr. Murphy, for as long as I can remember. Like many Americans, our family lost members during many of our wars. The ones that survived the wars, were changed forever. My Grandfather served on the most decorated ship of WWII, the Franklin CV-13 (aka: Big Ben). He survived the Japanese attacks, but was haunted by what he'd been through. I will never forget the sacrifices Mr. Murphy made for us all. I'm sure he will be remembered, just as Sgt. York is, from WWI. Mr. Murphy is a true American Hero.

I grew up watching Audie Murphy movies with my parents...I always loved him. As I got older I came to learn of the enormous true hero that he was. I treasure him in my memory and he will be forever held as a shining example of what a great country should be.

One of my favorite movies of my thirteenth year was TO HELL AND BACK. I think my father took our whole family to see it. My father was a great admirer of Audie Murphy and his almost incredible exploits in World War II. I have enjoyed several of his movies in the nearly 61 years since then. It is a tragedy that he died so young after surviving World War II. It is also a tragedy that then, and to a considerable extent even now, not enough attention is paid to the terrible effects of PTSD. May he rest in peace.

Just watched "To Hell and Back" for the first time. It is Memorial Day 2016. It motivated me to look on the Internet for more information on Sergeant Murphy. What a remarkable story. I think it is very important to keep alive the memory of all our American heroes. All of them have a common virtue, selflessness. They model it for all of us; our nation today needs so much more selflessness if we are to regain our position in the world in the world's greatest nation. God bless the memory of Audie Murphy, and all the heroes who inspire us to do better, and to be better.

Loved his movies. Thanks to other people's postings I now know the rest of Audie Murphy. Somehow the fighters for this country need to be in the School books. So much vital history has been lost lack of caring.
