When I first became an Audie Murphy fan I had no idea he was a decorated veteran. I am proud to live in the same country that Mr. Murphy fought for.

I have seen all of Audi Murphy's films since I was a child. I am 57 years old now and in life I wish I could have served my country as he did. I have made many mistakes in life and it took a long time for me to grow up. I work with young people with autism and learning difficulties now but I wish that I could have been like him I do admire him so much and I wish that I could have met him.
He won't be forgotten.

I first learnt of Audie Murphy and his acts of courage many years ago and I am saddened and a little dismayed to hear of the indifference shown by the media toward s an extraordinary man. Especially in this day and age, and I do not wish to be flippant nor denigrate any deserving individual, when the word hero is attributed to almost any man who picks up a rifle in service of his country.

There will be those who deserve the accolade as much as he and I trust they are shown more respect than Mr Murphy has been till now - god bless him and your site for your work davidbailie

Audie was the most unassuming, humble hero we've ever had. I'm sure if I asked him about his combat experiences and awards he would simply say "I was just doing as I was trained." God Bless him.

Audie Murphy was more than an American Hero, but a shining example toward not giving up, being a true American and an excellent example of a real brother to your siblings can be. Thank-you Audie for all you did for the United States of America.

I currently live Greenville,Texas
2011-2012 I worked on Collin County Courthouse, where we did addition, and nearly complete remodeling of court house.
During demolition stage, I come across a piece of shiny brass facing down among the debris onfloor.
After wiping the dust from it, I discovered it was a plaque honoring Audie, and growing up in N.Texas,I knew who it was.
I honestly couldn't believe that the official's of the building didn't make arrangements to have this removed, and put away till completion.
If they couldn't honor the man properly, then I would!
It's nothing fancy just a thin piece of shiny brass with his name and some of his accomplishments noted on it, but the man deserves more respect than it got.
So he now has a place in my home where my family pictures are hanging.
No one kknows it's there, but then few people come to my place.
Yet it's far better fitting here than in the landfill it was headed for, cause next remodel, I won't be there to rescue it again. And odds are no one else would've even noticed it laying among the debris there on the floor.
