In my early teens I acquired a book about medal of Honor winners and what they did to win their medal of course Lt. Murphy was in the book and I had already seen some of his movies so began my admiration of him. I read every thing i could find about him. I still watch his movies and I plan to show my grandsons his movies tell them who he was and that he is the kind of American that they should want to be. I hope that the foreword on this sight is wrong and that Lt. Murphy is never forgotten. I know I will never forget him as long as I'm alive. Added: April 20, 2017

Terry & Skip, Your Dad has been a source of inspiration throughout my life. It started with myself and my Dad watching To Hell and Back on television in the late 60's? Not too far into the movie, my Dad told me this was a true story, it really happened. I ask Dad what the soldier's name was? He said Audie Murphy. I said, no the real guy? He said his name is Audie Murphy and that's him. Getting frustrated, I said no not the actor, what was the real solder's name! This went on for a couple minutes, and it eventually got through to me that Audie Murphy was a soldier and an actor! I was captivated as I watched the movie. Thinking this is a real story and "that guy" IS Audie Murphy. And using a real General for the introduction with his words of praise for your Father was genius, along with the MOH presentation. The pictures of his fallen friends, great stuff then and now. It is a happy memory, watching your Dad and the time spent with my Dad. I hope both of you are healthy and happy. Jerry L. Audie Murphy. The man. The Legend. Truly an inspiring gentleman. Currently serving in the military, and I owe that to him.
