So many years later I realize that whenever the hard stuff happened, I'd ask myself "What would Audie Murphy do?" I wouldn't always do it, but I would know right then what the right thing to do was. Audie, you've always been an inspiration. Gary Frans, Captain, U.S. Army Reserves (ret) Commissioned 16May80 New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, NM 88201 Added: May 28, 2017

Hard to believe it has been 46 years ago May 28, 1971 that we lost a great soldier. Let us honor all our fallen heros, veterans and those who are still serving today. Thanks Audie for speaking out about the war and PTSD and sharing your thoughts and feelings with us. So many would not talk about it. The poems written from the heart are very precious and stir so much emotion. We will not forget. Let's show our honor & respect this memorial weekend. Added: May 28, 2017

Over the decades, Ruby, my mother, and myself, have both loved Audie Murphy's movies. We knew about him being a WWII veteran and hero, however, neither of us realized the vast additional information about him. I was very impressed to learn Audie Murphy was a pioneer in getting the Federal Government to "recognize and improve treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for all military veterans." I hope you enjoy reading about one of our great military heroes. My love and thanks to all those who are serving or have served in our great U.S. Armed Forces. Today is the day that Audie passed away in 1971. I is a shame that more young men couldn't be like Audie. He loved and respected his family and took care of them. HE fought for his country that he loved and respected. God bless our military.
