One of the greatest heroes of all time, for both the United States of America and the State of Texas. Several fans have mentioned a remake of the movie "To Hell Back".
I agree, but who can match the performance in the original in which he portrayed himself?

I was watching an older Audie movie, and suddenly realized I didn't know all that much beyond his being a war hero. He seemed to be such an unassuming and gentle man. Thank you for keeping the memory, and the facts straight.
