Being a Veteran in the 3rd Infantry Division, in Germany before they moved to Georgia, there are great heroic stories of Sgt Murphy. The unbelievable courage under fire and also stories of how he hated being in the spotlight. Always crediting his Platoon and brushing off the “Hero” label. By far, this young man from, I was told a poor family in dusty Texas, became so iconic, really due to the fact that he had “Nothin’ to lose”. God bless his memory and God Bless America!

Good to see this website helping to keep his memory alive. I keep a picture of him on my computer and I look at it often . RIP Audie a very brave man and one of my personal heroes . The World forgets it's real heroes and promotes pretenders.
