I have been a Audie Murphy fan since I was a kid. To Hell and Back is my favorite war movie to this day. I got your website from the American Legion magazine. I learned quite a bit today about my favorite war hero. I must have been ten or a bit older when I saw the movie and I knew then that I wanted to join the army. Well I didn't exactly join but was drafted in 1966 and serve a year in Viet Nam. I came home safe and sound, thank God.

Thank You

Graduated High School in 1971, the year he died. I remember the movie he made of WWII. It was quite an outstanding picture. My vote would've been for his movie, not "Jaws".

Great man all around! I was a Pilot for Piedmont Airlines based in Roanoke, Va. the day Audie was killed. I flew out of Roanoake that day and the weather was terrible. When we(pilots in ROA) heard of the crash...we were all saddened deeply. All the germans who tried could not kill him, yet an airplane did. Forty years passed will soon be here. The loss is no less now than May of '71.

We are familiar about Audie Murphy. How he served in the military. My husband knows more about Audie than I do. We've watched his movies on television and enjoyed them. Was proud of what he became! We didn't know that there was a U.S. postage stamp honoring Audie Murphy. Would like to know where we could get one. We are proud of all those that has served our country and those that continue to serve. They are the reason we are free today. Praise The Lord!
