First heard of Audie while in primary school. Read 'To hell and back' and, growing up, saw all of his movies.

Being about the same size as Audie he was always an inspiration in everything I did or attempted. Joined the Australian Army as a Pte and retired as a Major.

Throughout my life I have had the utmost respect for Audie and his actions, both in the Army and his personal life. I am sure that my life would not have been as rich or rewarding if I had not heard of Audie and had not adopted him as my personal hero.

It is so amazing he did what he did for his country ended up being "b" class western movie actor. He could have gotten a much more prestigious job after the War. That was a real slap om the face.
