As a child growing up my parents often took the family, my 2 sisters and I to the drive-in movies, very popular back then in the fiftys and sixtys. My dad, who was a marine in WW2, always loved to go when an Audie Murphy movie was on. He loved to see him. I never understood his fasination of course, until I was grown. Now my husband and I watch his movies on the old western channel and love them, now that I know the history of the man. what a true hero he was. God bless him, and the others that keep our country free. Added: January 4, 2012

He defined the character of our nation which seems to be slipping away. By remembering Audie's willingness to sacrifice himself for what we enjoy today, freedom, we remember who we are as a nation. By forgetting those who paved the way for us, we forget who we are and what we stand for as a nation. Thank you Audie Murphy and all our Veterans. Added: January 4, 2012
