Without a doubt,A true American hero, yes, the real thing HERO.No,he did not win a Cy young award or a super bowel. He won the Medal Of Honor,an achevement far greater than anything that the sports world has to offer.I hope some day the congress will see fit to name a navy ship the USS AUDIE L.MURPHY.If those sorry * * * can do anything right.

As a young person separated from WWII by two generations, my understanding of the war has largely been limited to grossly abbreviated accounts in school textbooks. That I learned about Audie Murphy at all is due to a chain of events containing Bill Mauldin's book Up Front and the movie Red Badge of Courage. Reading Murphy's book To Hell and Back left me with as many questions as answers about the life of this remarkable man, and finding the information to answer them has proven extremely difficult. I want to thank the creators of this website for their efforts to make such information available and for their efforts to raise awareness of the many heros of WWII, of which Audie Murphy is an outstanding example.

I'm only 33 and I have ALWAYS known who Audie Murphey was. I feel sorry for others my age and younger who don't know what an amazing person he was. I thank my father for keeping his memory alive for me to learn. As a fellow Texan I have an enormous sense of pride to count myself in a group with him. God Bless Audie L. Murphy

Audie Murphy is my favorite hero. I feel that he was a man of high morals and character. His love for family,God and country was obvious as he cared for his siblings and how he served our military bravely. I love to watch all his westerns ( more than John Wayne ). May God bless Audie Murphy and may he continue to bless our great nation!
